Climate Change Funding
Programs And Applications
More and more government organizations such as Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and others have recognized that our changing climate is having an adverse effect on Indigenous communities.
With this realization, there have been funds dedicated for Indigenous communities to undertake the projects necessary to not only understand what climate change affects are or could be, but also for actions to be taken. Projects such as gathering Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), planning and monitoring climate impacts so that communities can adapt and/or mitigate the effects of our changing climate are all supported by these government departments.
CIPS Team members have been very successful in assisting communities to develop projects that access funds. Our support with the development of proposals and navigating application processes has led to many communities being able to undertake important work to address concerns of our changing climate.
