Anishnaabe Kwe from walpole island First Nation

Aimee's Bio

​

Aimee is Anishnaabe from Walpole Island First Nation and is passionate about the environment, building community, and community development projects.  She has gained a wide range of experience from her work within the First Nations, public, private, and charitable sectors.  

Her more recent work has included working closely with the Chief and Council of her community as the Director of Governance and Comprehensive Community Planning Coordinator.  In these roles Aimee was responsible for the operation and support of the political office and portfolios,  community engagement, community planning, and project implementation.  Highlights from this work include the redevelopment of two community parks, two phases of a community owned housing project, a variety of community energy projects, the Community Energy Plan, and the planning, fundraising, and design of an expansion of the community arena in partnership with the YMCA.  

Aimee’s other work includes land claims negotiations, communications, intergovernmental relations, indigenous awareness training, fundraising, project management, environmental project review, and coordination of natural heritage, environmental, and species at risk projects.    

In her spare time, Aimee is a musician and co-owner of her family farm business, Kaiya Farms & Market Garden in North Buxton, Ontario.
